One of my only posts to date that's not completely "My Little Lovebug" centered.
I was the victim of a hit and run yesterday.
In lieu of typing my story over and over again (since that's what I feel like I was doing to everyone who wrote or messages me)...the following is "my statement" copied directly from my Facebook page:
"I picked Benny up from my mom’s after work, put him in his car seat and went into the back to get him his chocolate milk for the ride. I felt pressure on my back and realized that a car was backing out of a driveway and was pinning me in-between my door and my car. I screamed (duh,) but he kept backing up. The worst part was watching him drive away, like it didn't happen at all. Still screaming I called out his license plate and immediately sent it to my husband (yes, I wish I took a picture instead.) I wasn't quite sure what to do, but my father convinced me to report it. In the end, it was really the excruciating back pain I was in that persuaded me to call 911. Within moments, the ambulance came and took me to the hospital (Benny stayed behind with my brother.) The police met me there and I filled out a police report. A few hours (yes, hours!) later I got some x-rays which showed everything as negative (thank goodness!) I was discharged with simple instructions and a pretty strong muscle relaxer, which exempted me from work for today and tomorrow (since I can’t drive while taking it.)
I'm still not sure what course of action we will be deciding to take."

The Angry Mom
I am just angry.
Last night, sometime after I kissed My Little Lovebug and made sure he was tucked in, I went to bed. He had a little cough, so when he woke up a few hours later, I just attributed it to that. But, then I heard a little horse whiper from his bed, "help mom." And I darted into his room, only to find him struggling to take off...wait for it...the cord from his binoculars that were wrapped around his neck. That's correct - at some point between me tucking him in to bed, he must have snuck his binoculars into the bed with him and put them around his neck. He even had the imprint of the chord around his neck.
And that made me angry.
Very angry.
I guess I thought at a certain point, we'd be beyond that fear of the unthinkable happening to him while he slept. Way to bring our guard back up.

The Celebratory Mom
New Year’s Eve 2013 - 2014
I wanted to make this New Year’s
Eve the best one we have had in a while.
After all, the last three January’s, My Little Lovebug
was…well…little! Now, he’s at a good age
where he really understands what is going on.
Therefore…I give you…our New Year’s Evening…
1. Snacks
– Our appetizers included chips and dip, spinach dip with sour dough bread and
mozzarella and tomato drizzled with chocolate infused balsamic vinegar.
2. Games
and Crafts – We played Chutes and Ladders, which My Little Lovebug won…as he
always legitimately does! We made beaded bracelets for our craft.
3. Video
2013 – I thought it would be fun to record a little message from My Little
Lovebug, which includes just a few of his favorite things…obviously you can
tell that staying up late with no nap had started taking a toll on him!
4. Yummy
Dinner – Big Daddy Lovebug made 2 of my favorite dishes in the world (of course
they are my favorite – they are from Disney World!) General Tao’s Chicken from the China Pavilion
in Epcot and Garlic Noodles from ‘ohana in the Polynesian Resort. Served with a little white rice and BAM! What a final meal to end 2013 with!!!
5. Dance
Party – We cranked up the tunes and just went wild in our living room –
dancing, jumping, singing, boogying, spinning…all the while laughing and just
enjoying each other!
6. Toast
and Balloon Drop – Ok, I admit it, we cheated a little…we counted down alright
– at 10:30 PM!!! We toasted with milk
and whipped cream and had 14 balloons drop all over him! He LOVED IT!!! Happy New Year!!! And then to bed!
After party – Since My Little
Lovebug fell asleep in like 20 seconds, it allowed us to clean up from dinner
and relax until 11:50 when my parents dropped by! We watched the ball drop in Times Square (on
television, of course) and gave our first New Year’s kiss. My Little Lovebug’s first New Year’s kiss
would come the next morning. With
pancakes and mimosas (just orange juice for him!) for breakfast!
So, because it IS a new year, I
suppose some resolutions are in order…
·
Every week, probably on Saturday nights, Big
Daddy and I alternate and create a brand new meal, something we have never made
before. We stick to a set budget for
that week.
·
Healthy eating habits…again!!! I always do so well until September, then I
slip into the school/holidays bad way of eating.
·
Less time on computer/phone…man, is it
addicting.
·
Less soda/less chocolate – I cut out soda a few
years ago, but recently, I started drinking a little too much again.
·
Create a budget worksheet – again, something I
usually start at the beginning of the year and phase out by the middle.
Whooo hoooo! Happy New Year 2014!!!
